Description

Racism and Discrimination at the Lafayette Swimming Pool ~ 1934

March 12-May 10

This historical exhibit developed by Lafayette Arts & Cultural Resources Department examines the events in Lafayette, Colorado from the 1930s, when the first Lafayette Swimming Pool was built and then shuttered. The exhibit, which features extensive research and photographs, highlights the brave efforts of Latina Rose Lueras, who fought for civil rights and justice in Lafayette in the 1930s.

Since its debut exhibition at The Collective in 2020, it has been featured at the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) National Conference, Museum of Boulder, Broomfield Depot Museum, and won the 2021 Caroline Bancroft Award from History Colorado.

Visit The Collective Community Arts Center at 201 N. Public Road. to view this exhibit and learn more at lafayetteco.gov/Collective and lafayetteco.gov/RoseLueras.
